The world’s oldest alpine club set up in 1857, the Alpine club boasts the world’s largest mountain library, a stunning collection of art and artefacts. The Alpine Club ‘s founding mission statement is to bring information to mountaineers. Departing from the traditional guidebook edition it has now started to publish information on the web (Funalps). The information centre will be manned by Alpine Club members

UCPA was born to make it possible for young generations to have access to outdoor activities. It was founded in 1965 as the result of the fusion of two associations one of them being the National Union of Mountain Resorts (Union Nationale des centres de montagne) at the instigation of Maurice Herzog who was then Secretary of State to Youth and sport. During its 47 years of existence, UCPA hasn’t stopped evolving to fulfil new generations’ aspirations while pursuing its engagement to promote accessibility to outdoor activities such as mountaineering and alpinism. Its pedagogy was built on the ambition to encourage autonomy and responsibility in order to trigger self-fulfillment inside a group.

What makes Wing over Chamonix different is their mascot, Sai Sai. Olivier Laugero, the Wing over Chamonix manager, has an unusual flight partner: a dog.
Olivier is passionate about everything that flies - he has spent years bird-watching through his binoculars. To justify his aerial wanderings, Olivier arms himself with a camera. As one of the most accomplished paragliding photographers, he works for the Yann Arthus Bertrand agency as well as for Red Bull and the famous “X-Alps” adventure race.
Olivier was the first pilot to ever top land a tandem paraglider on the summit of Mont Blanc.

The Fête de la Montagne offers, every last weekend of June, a variety of events on the theme the mountain.

On 28 and 29 June 2014 will be held, throughout France, the second edition of the Fête de la Montagne.

We’re proud to have Chamonix Adventure Festival as our partner. It brings together adventurers, explorers, athletes and enthusiasts from near and far, to share tales and showcase their talents through film, photography, art and displays and this year begins immediately after the Chamonix Mountain Festival. The film programme will be packed with inspiring tales with filmmakers, explorers and athletes on hand to share their exploits so whatever your sport we’d recommend putting 7-10 July in your diary.

This year’s Adventure Festival once again includes film and photography courses with Sébastien Montaz-Rosset and Tristan Shu with preferential rates available for Chamonix Mountain Festival participants.

La Chamoniarde is the voluntary organisation which takes responsibility for co-ordination of accident prevention and rescue resources in the Chamonix valley. The website is a rich resource for accessing everything from the latest mountain condition updates from the Office de Haute Montagne to details of essential safety training courses.

Its principle objective is coordinating the many agencies involved in mountain rescue which is provided by gendarmes secouristes from PGHM the national search and rescue department, who operate in close collaboration with the DAG the national helicopter rescue team, and the Sécurité Civile. Medical support is provided by SMUR doctors, specialized in mountain related trauma.
